What is Keys to ubuntu?

Ubuntu

 /o͝oˈbo͝on(t)o͞o/

an ancient African philosophy meaning ‘humanity for others; the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.’ a word used to describe someone who is generous, hospitable, friendly, caring and compassionate, to name a few.

  • The word Ubuntu was coined as a world view or philosophy in the 1990s during a time when South Africa was working to abolish a system of institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination called apartheid. Ubuntu was used to remind society that we are all connected, that we must be and give to humanity to receive it and to see growth and change in the world and especially in our communities.

  • Keys to Ubuntu is a membership that is the KEY to connecting all businesses throughout the community with an empathize on highlighting diversity throughout major cities in the U.S. When someone becomes a Keys to Ubuntu member and they present their active membership (via the Keys to Ubuntu mobile phone app (coming soon!)) to participating businesses, they receive exclusive savings on food, drinks, services, apparel, cosmetics, skin care, etc.

With every Keys to Ubuntu membership purchased, a portion of the amount goes to local, grassroots organizations within that community to help them continue their efforts in providing an array of resources and services to different demographics and causes.

"Ubuntu speaks of the very essence of being human."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  - Desmond Tutu
